Gestalt Principles

For this assignment we were to incorporate the theories of Gestalt who believed that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Through PowerPoint we were to take basic shapes and arrange them to follow Gestalts four principles: Closure, Proximity, Similarity, and Continuity. Below are images I have created to incorporate these principles. I chose basic shapes such as diamonds, hexagons, circles, hearts, and arrows to reflect these theories. I also chose to keep the color scheme of black and white which is what Gestalt used.

Regarding Krause questions on connotation, attributes, and placement I believe I represented these principles really well. The visual style of each image correctly reflects its theme. I don't think I could have thickened or changed the size of the attributes because using the black and white shapes is what Gestalt is known for so it correctly reflects his principles as well. All of the images were placed in the center and spaced out according to the definition of what the images were reflecting.

Closure

Proximity

Similarity

Continuity
